Mission
Purpose
The Walton Local Food Alliance was born from the work of The Byrd's, of Whippoorwill Hollow Organic Farm, in helping to shape the local food movement in Georgia.
Our Alliance is made up of local farmers, chefs, interested citizens, agriculture, environmental, education and health focused organizations, law enforcement and city governments. We have joined forces for the purpose of supporting our local food economy.
Georgia Organics Partnership
The Walton Local Food Alliance is proud to be a Georgia Organics Food Oasis community. Walton County is at the table with the likes of GA communities such as Savannah, Augusta and Columbus. GA Organics primary goals are to increase the number of organic sustainable farmers in Georgia, Increase the number of children participating in farm to school programs and to increase the number of Georgians eating local, organic food.These goals are emphasized through the Georgia Food Oasis community via public engagement, partnership, planning, and policy efforts.
How we Define "Local Food"
Any food grown or prepared in a surrounding community and is marketed directly by the producer.
